According to the Regulation on insurance activity in the Republic of Belarus approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated 25.08.2006 No 530, the owner of the vehicle shall, prior to departure from the Republic of Belarus to the countries-members of “Green Card system, conclude “Green Card insurance contract for the whole period, during which the car is used abroad, however, the period should not be less than 15 days. 

“Green Card insurance contract may be concluded for the period from 15 days up to 1 year.

The territory of validity of “Green Card insurance contract includes the countries, which are the members of “Green Card system specified in the contract.

The value of “Green Card insurance contract is the same in all insurance companies of the Republic of Belarus. The value depends on the type of the transport vehicle (motor-car, lorry, bus etc.), countries, the territory of which the owner of the vehicle enters, and on the insurance term.

In accordance with the legislation, the insurance premium under “Green Card insurance contract shall be paid on a one-time basis and in hard currency only.
